EPW - Victor Kullberg, London, made for Walter Cooper, London, high grade free-sprung lever with winding indicator, 54mm, massive 18K gold original HC bearing London hallmarks for 1892, case maker's "J M" marking in oval cameo, white enamel DS dial, SW-pin-set, fully capped lever escapement, free-sprung balance, diamond end stone, 19-21J, gilt mvt, s#04376 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 107.7 dwt (167.5 g). The present watch, made by Victor Kullberg for Walter Cooper, features an interesting winding/setting mechanism; when the front lid of the case is closed the crown turns freely and engages neither winding nor setting, when the front lid of the case is opened the winding mechanism is engaged by the crown, and when the setting pin is depressed the setting mechanism remains engaged by the crown until the front of the case is closed. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running after needing some prodding to start, good winding indicator function, overhaul recommended, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some mild micro-fine scratches, mild ultra-fine scratch striations in a few areas likely from a light wiping in the past; flawless dial; excellent hands, small portion of finish loss to minute; case shows light wear, scratches at upper right of rear, mild pinpoint nick to band at 5; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
